Dividends

Centrica typically declares two dividends each year. An interim dividend paid each November and a final dividend, recommended for approval at the Annual General Meeting, paid each July.

Withdrawal of Cheque Dividend Payments

From July 2023, dividend payments to shareholders are no longer made by cheque. To continue to receive Centrica plc dividends and any other money payable to you in connection with your Centrica plc shares, you must take action and provide your bank or building society account details so that payments can be made directly to your nominated account. Equiniti website, or you can do this via your Shareview Portfolio.

You can provide Equiniti with the relevant information by any of the following three ways:

  • by submitting the details online at: www.shareview.co.uk/info/directdividends;
  • by telephoning Equiniti on +44 (0) 371 384 2985 where Equiniti’s teams are ready to assist with any queries and register the relevant details; OR
  • by posting a completed bank mandate form to Equiniti at: Equiniti, Aspect House, Spencer Road, Lancing, West Sussex, BN99 6DA. You should have received the form and a pre-paid envelope by post but the mandate form is also on Equiniti’s website here.  If you do not provide your bank or building society account details, your dividend payments will be retained until your bank details are received, after which payment will be credited to your account as soon as possible. Your dividends will not accrue interest while they are being held for you and there may be a fee for Equiniti to reissue payments.

Direct dividend payments

Centrica operates a service that pays dividends automatically into shareholders' bank or building society accounts. This service gives shareholders a number of benefits and also helps Centrica improve its efficiency by reducing postage and cheque clearing costs.

Many of our shareholders are already enjoying the benefits from this service which include:

  • no chance of your dividend cheque going missing in the post, saving you the hassle of requesting a replacement;
  • your dividend is received directly into your account on the payment date; and
  • a single consolidated dividend confirmation is issued at the end of each tax year in March, in time for your self-assessment tax return.

Shareholders with a UK bank/building society account should use the Direct Dividend Payment Form whilst corporate shareholders should use the Corporate Mandate Form. Please return the completed form to Equiniti as directed.

Please note that from July 2023 we no longer pay dividends by cheque. Dividends are paid directly into shareholders’ bank or building society accounts.
